The Maranatha Hope Foundation is committed to contributing to strong, resilient female-headed families in Southern Africa

Maranatha Hope Foundation (MHF) is a Non-Profit Organisation which was registered in the Republic of South Africa in August 2020. It was founded by five like-minded women committed to contributing to strong, resilient female-headed families in Southern Africa as a cornerstone for alleviating poverty and addressing their psychological, health and socio-economic well-being.

Maranatha Hope Foundation is guided by a three-year strategy (2021-2023) that outlines its work with Female-Headed Households (FHH). The objective is to provide specific sustainable livelihood programs informed by evidence to one or two districts in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa where founders have been informally offering assistance to FHH.

Specific Outcomes of Our Goals

Outcome 1

Self-sufficient Female Headed Households that have increased resilience to deal with poverty, food insecurity, malnutrition, and other related socio-economic stresses.

Outcome 2

Economically and socially empowered Female Headed Households with increased self-worth, health and mental wellness.

Outcome 3

Strengthened capacity of MHF and partners to implement poverty alleviation initiatives amongst Female Headed Households in the targeted communities.

Who We Are

The Maranatha Hope Foundation was founded to alleviate poverty among Female-headed Households in Southern Africa. The Foundation offers holistic and long-term interventions for female Headed Household.

Our Mission

To contribute to the building of resilient Female-Headed Households in Southern Africa by enhancing their psycho-social and mental health; safety, living conditions and a strong sense of self-worth for both mothers and their children.

Maranatha Hope Foundation envisions empowered, self-sufficient and resilient Female-Headed Households in Southern Africa who enjoy total well-being and peace of mind.

Our Target Beneficiary Group

The MHF will focus primarily on vulnerable Female-Headed Households. In this inception phase, the focus is in one or two districts of the KwaZulu Natal Province of South Africa, where the founders have prior experience, hence an easy entry point.

Our Approach

The MHF approach will target one female headed households at a time using a five-pronged mutually reinforcing process : Listen, Understand, Relate, Engage and Empower. These processes will be developed during the pilot phase taking cognisance of the Baseline Study outcomes.

Resourcing the MHF

The MHF will initially rely on the contributions made by the founder members and their private networks as foundational funding for registration, brand development, founding documents; the Baseline Study among others.

External funding drives will target International Organizations such as the United Nations; International Foundations; Embassies and other Bi-lateral organizations; Faith-based Development agencies as well as the South African private sector.

Organisational Structure

The MHF has been able to start with a few key full – time employees and volunteers because we are quite aware of the challenge of maintaining a large workforce as a Non – Profit organization.

The current key positions (both full – time and volunteers) are; Board of Directors, Executive Director, Administrator, Communications and IT Officer, Fundraising Officer and Programs Officer.

Meet the Directors

Executive Director:
Sithabiso Gandure (PhD) with with over 20 years development experience working with the UN, donors, international NGOs and National Government in Southern Africa.

Non-Executive Directors:
